Auschwitz-bierkenau

Auschwitz Birkenau (1941-1945) the largest Nazi concentration camp. The whole complex consisted of three separate parts: Auschwitz I – Administrative center, Auschwitz II (Brzezinka) – an actual extermination camp and Auschwitz III – labor camp. Over a million hundred thousand people lost their lives in the camp for 4 years. Around 90% of fatalities are Jewish people transported here from all European countries under occupation or in the German influence zone. Most of them were killed in gas chambers, and others fell victims of violent punishment, medical experiments or living conditions prevailing in the camp. A visit to the Auschwitz Museum introduces the cruel fate of these people, and also allows us to deepen the historical knowledge about what the Holocaust was and how it worked.
